Three generations of farming

 

Here at Cognac Expert, we believe that our story speaks volumes. As farmers ourselves, we understand what it is to grow vines – and the successes and challenges, and the fleeting beauty of a fruitful harvest. Our family has been farming in the French Charentais region for generations, so we are closely linked to the heritage of farming and viticulture that runs deep in the region. With our curated selection of products online from the best growers and distillers, we offer both connaisseurs and newcomers a glimpse into the hidden corners of the Cognac world.

Our family roots in Cognac extend back three generations. Over half a century ago, our grandfather farmed crops and cultivated walnut and apple plantations, but was also known for his vineyards on our estate, Logis de Beaulieu. After a series of economic difficulties, vines were uprooted, and prices fell. Coming from creative industries, we were both set on reclaiming our family heritage and the essence of a region that we love in an innovative way.

We began to wonder how we could revive the life and soul of our family estate, the, and sustain it into the future. With that, Cognac Expert was born.

A lot of the process takes place at the heart of our estate in rural France, Logis de Beaulieu. We provide an ever-increasing number of products that are only available locally, along with personalized guidance and tools on how to choose the right Cognac for you.

With a longstanding history in the region, Cognac Expert wish to get rid of the tweed and cigar image that has been long associated with the spirit. We are still learning more and more every day, thanks to the most experienced farmers, distillers, blenders, and merchants.

These people are the very heart and soul of Cognac; they operate on traditions that have been passed down to them for generations.

 

We are both now deeply attached to this part of the world, and to Cognac production in particular, which is present in all areas of life here.

Fast forward 10 years, and we continue to evolve and expand our online Cognac online shop and blog. 

We offer a glimpse into the mysteries of the French countryside, tend to our recently re-planted organic vines, and have even launched our very own brand of Cognac through collaborating with family-run brands – the Sophie & Max Sélection.
